SUMMARY:
Eating, swallowing and recurring infections are some of the many problems facing nursing home residents with end stage dementia. Those problems often require a trip to the hospital or the intensive care unit. A new study shows many of these patients are at an increased risk for having a feeding tube inserted while hospitalized.
